GnomeCorpREEdefining what constitutes comprehensive
This article provides a comprehensive look at 'Redmont's Economic News' posting in #news and why it drives me mad

The #news channel in the DemocracyCraft official discord server is supposed to be a place where approved and compliant journalists, news outlets and other publications and platforms can post news, discourse, current events and other such content for the people of Redmont to read and enjoy.
The channel is moderated, as are those with the ability to publish content there. Posts that are considered 'not news' are removed. Posts that are said to have been significantly generated with artificial intelligence are removed. Posts that break server rules are removed.
A significant motivator (though not the only one!) behind creating GnomeStack as a platform was how little value I was getting from reading #news in it's current state. A daily habit of mine is now reading the latest GnomeStack posts and publications over my morning coffee. It would of course be great if I could include #news in this morning ritual, and every now and again I give it another chance. This is especially important because not all of the news I want or need to read is posted to GnomeStack.
In recent weeks my frustration with the state of #news has only increased, and one of the primary causes of this is a publication by the name of 'Redmont's Economic News'. This publication posts to #news daily, sometimes multiple times per day. They have a website, hosted and I assume created with base44, a service which advertises itself as a 'Vibe Coding Platform for Building Apps and Websites'.
To demonstrate my frustration with the content provided by this outlet, I am going to provide quotations from their daily 'report' on the economy.
Starting with today's post from about an hour ago:
Today's report is up for July 6th, 2026! This report provides a comprehensive look at Redmont's economic metrics, including account balances, consumer price indices, and recent transaction trends, alongside industry news regarding the DCFL.
It appears as though due to a lot of the numbers being pulled from the last 30 days, a lot of them are beginning to fall. Luckily, it will most likely level out within a week or 2 after the massive drops in players have passed in the reporting window.

Moving on to the post for yesterday:
Today's report is up! This report provides an analysis of Redmont's economic state as of July 5, 2026, highlighting transaction trends, wealth distribution metrics, and strategic advice for local businesses.

That uh, seems like pretty much the same post? Perhaps they posted yesterday's report today by mistake or something similar? Let's go look at the next day prior for some more data.

It appears as though that is pretty much the same post three days in a row! Let's see how many days back we need to go before a substantive difference is obvious. Four days prior:
Today's report is up! This report analyzes Redmont's economic state as of July 3, 2026, highlighting continued declines in transaction activity and money velocity due to the rolling 30-day reporting window, rising personal wealth, and expectations of lower player activity during the summer.

That counts for four in my book, can we go for five??
Today's report is up! This report analyzes Redmont's economic state as of July 2, 2026, highlighting stable transaction activity, rising personal wealth alongside increasing wealth concentration, slowing money velocity, and expectations of increased business activity as the weekend approaches.

Unlike some of my colleagues in the industry, I believe making my point 3-5 times in succession should be enough times to prove a point. So what else is this outlet posting that could save them from this potential accusation of posting repetitive sloppa? Great question!
Perhaps instead of this thrilling and comprehensive economic analysis, you would prefer to read 26 consecutive posts about a football league draft?

Or perhaps you would prefer an article over which bank you should use:

As you may notice in that last screenshot, it seems pretty much every post regarding an article from the publication (so excluding thrilling live update messages on a football draft) include a sponsorship segment. Authors deserve to be compensated for their work, and sponsorships and partnerships is a fine and dandy way of doing that.
What sticks in my beard is using what appears to be machine generated sloppa articles to post machine generated summaries of said articles as an excuse to post advertisements and sponsorships to the official #news channel alongside content of actual value and where real effort was applied.
At the very least, you would hope that a publication or author that may attempt to use such data-center assistance might think to inform the artificially intelligent journalist to distinguish the content generated a little, but that would of course require the one directing such a journalist to consider that in the first place.
Even showing the AI the previous posts and summaries it generated may be sufficient to get the artificial intelligence to think "Wow what I was originally going to write is pretty much what I wrote yesterday, maybe I should think a little harder and spice things up a little for our readers!".
I am not one to shill or snitch to the janitors about network rules or guidelines, which is why I am here ranting about the state of things rather than opening a ticket. This isn't a call to action for any such thing either. Let nature take it's course. What I am here to do is to make it known that, as the young gnomes say, "tspmo fr ong".
From Gnome to REE, do better, or find somewhere else to not put effort in, so that those that care about this profession and the quality of journalism and reporting in this country and in the #news channel have a chance to be seen. It's the right thing to do. If you are unsure about why that is the right thing to do, please feel free to copy and paste this entire post into a free tier AI chat bot and they should be more than capable of explaining or answering any questions or concerns you have. I would also be willing to do this for anyone that shows any signs of putting any effort in themselves.
Thanks for reading!
