Fishing is a very popular trade, especially for new players or those who simply want to pass the time. However, despite the appeal of the trade, there are many hardships that fishers face, specifically low wages, violence in Aventura, and lack of police intervention.
In an interview, player Hyped207 reports that they make 300 dollars a day from fishing. They explain that this is enough to sustain basic costs of living, but is not enough to help them work toward their goal of owning a house in the future.
Additionally, the Aventura fishing area is plagued by routine violence. Hyped207 in a statement says that, in reality, “it’s not the money that hurts us, it’s the ‘rich players.’” These rich players go on killing sprees of new players for seemingly no reason, and police don’t intervene. Hyped207 explains that they have called 911 over 6 times for being murdered, and has given up because the cops never come.
Shortly after the interview, Hyped207 was jailed for alleged assault against player Wemmbu1435, a player allegedly in various controversies involving assault.
While fishing is a good starting source of income, it clearly has its flaws that are not being attended to.
