High Court Elections Drama
A short one today because Gnomestack went and lost my full summary.
Industry News
This new section will feature moves, drama, and other goings-on of Redmont's legal industry. Remember to declare in the RBA Council Special Election if you're interested in running.
And welcome back to Snow, who's made a big move and joined TSE as general counsel.
If you have legal industry news tips or are interested in placing an ad in future (better and longer) editions of CourtListener, DM budgetmich on Discord.
Biggest updates:
The Supreme Court agreed to hear the Commonwealth's appeal of a ruling from the Federal Court which invalidated the Elections Code as unconstitutional and held that a Commonwealth department is liable to a plaintiff whose rights were violated even if the department is merely enforcing a statute in good faith. The government's full opening brief is due Thursday. https://www.democracycraft.net/threads/in-re-2026-fcr-20-2026-scr-12.38388/
And courts across the Commonwealth have granted extensions to attorneys of deadlines, even those which were scheduled to expire after the strike ended, following the general strike this weekend. These kind moves are particularly helpful for those firms whose attorneys were "thanos-snapped," hampering any zealous representation.
That's all for today! Come back tomorrow for the latest (and more fulsome) updates from these and all Redmont's cases.
