“When Tyranny becomes Law”: An Interview with JuliaMC_

by Amelia Jones

The DNN
June 8, 2026

The weekend has been a time of the greatest political upheaval in DemocracyCraft history. The entire government shut down, entire towns have formed independence movements, and many people are left wondering: “What happened?” It’s paramount that the Redmont public hears multiple perspectives, especially in light of recent news. As a result, Democrat National News is launching the “When Tyranny Becomes Law” series. In each post, we will provide an interview with someone directly connected to the story to help explain it through their perspective. On June 6th, server owner xEndeavour (End) denied a request to change player JuliaMC_’s record. Julia asked for her deadname to be replaced with the name she currently identifies with. After xEndeavour denied her request, arguments broke out, leading to a number of demotions and the unilateral banning of four players: Julia, SnowTheGuardian, Cassie, and PricelessAgrari.

Can you introduce yourself, please?

I'm Julia Tempest, I'm a trans woman. I go by she/her. I've served four times as a Representative in the 32nd, 33rd, 34th and 37th Congresses. I was the Deputy Speaker of the 33rd House of Representatives. I also served four times in the Council of Aventura, primarily under the Anime Tempest Administration. I currently run the Radical as its Editor-in-Chief.

I joined around the 14th of March, 2025 through Trolligarch's videos. Around 15 days later, I took a month-long hiatus. Once I returned, I endorsed and campaigned for the Kaiserin/Juniperfig (Total Juniper Victory) ticket. After some time, I joined the WPR, where I was endorsed for the Office of Administration. There, I met my good friends Anime Tempest (who has unfortunately quit DC, but I still continue to talk with him) and Katto Strophe-Bragança. Following the resignation of Representative Rubilubi from the House of Representatives, the WPR endorsed me to fill Rubilubi's old seat.

I've been told that there were some issues with xEndeavour even before recent events. Could you tell me your perspective on those issues?

xEndeavour has harassed members of this community. He has previously shielded transphobes and homophobes from staff and political punishment. He has abused his powers to gain political advantage. Until recently, all he ever got was a slap on the wrist.

Two examples that I can remember from the top of my head:

  • He was once held in contempt of court, and instead of serving out his punishment, he used his powers as owner to remove his wanted stars.
  • He protected Inknet. An individual who generally made bigoted comments. Rather than doing anything, End gave him a slap on the wrist and threatened to mute anyone who tried to politically campaign against Inknet due to the bigoted statements he made. ("I'm apolitical regarding irl politics" - paraphrased from what End said when explaining his reasoning)

Can you tell me what happened on Friday, June 6th?

On the morning of 6/6, I opened the ticket asking for my deadname to be removed from the 'previous usernames' section of the forums. Not long after I opened the ticket, Talion77 told me he'd check to see if my request was possible. After some time, End said he'd refuse to let this happen because records would be 'disrupted'. I demanded another staff member to review this. Eenza sent a message telling Talion77 to see if it's possible. End deleted Eenza's message and denied my request. Not long after, I issued my formal resignation to the President and the Speaker of the House. When Tech realised what had happened, he immediately removed my deadname from the 'previous usernames', apologised and explained that End shouldn't have denied my request.

How do you feel about all of the support, and what do you think comes next?

It's beautiful to see so many people striking and protesting in support of me. I'm proud to see what we've achieved. A week ago, I wouldn't have thought it possible to topple End. Hopefully, [what’s next is] getting unbanned, returning to politics, and possibly running for the Senate. We have to make sure the ownership isn't as powerful and significant as before. As an example, there's a national monument called 'St. xEndeavour Cathedral'. I think that's beyond disgusting and egotistical. We also have to pass Juniper's Act that amends the rules to standardise the 'mixing staff and politics' rule to ensure that the ownership can't abuse it in the future.

Is there anything else you’d like to say to the people?

Trans rights are human rights.

Thank you so much for your time!

[End of Interview]

At the time of writing, Julia is still banned and is pending review from staff. Government departments are slowly beginning to go off strike, but most companies and parties still await staff’s decisions on the banned player before they stop. This has been Amelia Jones reporting for Democraft National News.
