Is DemocracyCraft truly democratic?
Staff vetoes spark controversy over nationally approved Amendment

First of all, no. The title question, the answer is no.
I mean if you can have a national referendum where the majority of people vote yes, and then the ownership vetoes it for "interest of the server," are we really democratic? Or is ownership just working towards their vision and not their playerbase.
In case you've been living under a rock, two Constitutional Amendments were passed and had a national referendum:
- Willow Revivification Act
- Realer Town Rights Amendment Act
Now, the Willow Revivification Act was going to make WIllow a town, and was kinda a joke after the 6/7 revolution. The staff veto was completely fair here, and I'm not complaining about that.
Now, I am complaining about the veto on the Realer Town Rights Amendment Act. This would give towns more rights and control over themselves. However, the Ownership decided to veto it.
Keep in mind, this veto was only a day after the Department of State announced the referendum, so it wasn't even fully voted on yet. Disappointingly, we don't have referendum results, but we do have the national outcry. So many people have complained about the veto, and yet staff have decided to do it anyway.
I think this shines on a more... problematic issue.
End.
Wasn't end... supposed to abstain from "day-to-day" operations?
Well then why is he running the Red v. Blue event, why is he... issuing staff vetoes? Honestly, why is he still publically present?
Well.. Tech gave us an answer. These things supposedly aren't "day-to-day". Staff vetoes aren't "day-to-day" so End get's a say. I mean, alright, fine, but it REALLY feels like they are becoming a lot more common aren't they?
In the past 2 months, staff have vetoed these bills:
- Willow Revivification Act [House: 7 Aye, Senate: 5 Aye]
- Realer Town Rights Amendment Act [House: 7 Aye, 3 Nay; Senate: 4 Aye]
- Pride Celebration Act [House: 7 Aye, 1 Nay; Senate: 4 Aye]
- Give The Government A Break Act [House: 8 Aye; Senate: 4 Aye]
- No Mixing Politics and Staff Act (technically, a veto by Tech as President, but this is him working as an owner) [House: 8 Aye; Senate: 4 Aye]
If a staff veto isn't "day-to-day" then what is?
Staff and ownership have their vision for the server, which isn't inherently bad, but sometimes you need to step back and listen to your player-base. The players elected Multiman and this Congress for better town rights, and yet staff/ownership is contradicting this. There are justified staff vetoes, then there are the unjustified ones.
So I ask, to anyone who knows or wants to answer:
What are the day-to-day operations that End is abstaining from?
